Had some great games last night till the early hours with a few new players (and some old 1's)...there were enough of us who knew how to play to get the others to understand a few things, like boosting, volleys, STAY IN GOAL!!!! etc. Great fun, close games, <3 123/4 server... <3 2.0 Was fun indeed ...

I agree, I've recently started playing db again after some time away. I've yet to try 2.0 release, but the betas were a enjoyable. The netcode seems a lot smoother - i was playing on a NA server without realising it (apart form having to hit slightly earlier). The tweaks seem to be well thought out ...

During your beta testing what did you find was a setting for number of players and game time limit for dbw.

Also any suggestions for tennis settings aswell.

I noticed a small drop in accuracy with 1.9.
It doesnt feel like a lag problem, because Im not seeing the ball warp around the place - but I am missing more volleys. And seems a bit harder to intercept passes. Then again, it could be because I havent played much DB for ages.

We had to change the port numbers of all the UT2k3 servers we run from the default port (7777). This was because some berk had released an exploit which used UT2k3 servers to amplify traffic (DDOS) to a victim. They did this by sending hundreds of connections requests per second to game servers with ...

My opinion may be a little biased, but I think the standard of play on the 1234 pub server is pretty good. Most evenings you can get some decent games.

And as for this tennis malarky ;) \o/ lots of fun, and very little resources (4 players = 5% cpu, and very little bandwidth).

Sry.. this may be my fault for not testing the script before I sent it to Bazzi. Could you check a few things.. I noticed that the zip contained a number of folders in lowercase, so make sure you manually copy all the files from maps, textures, sounds, staticmeshes,systems,... etc. into the correct ...

I've got a few crash logs from the 1.7beta we run.

Does anyone want them?

you could replace the mail line by

tail -n 1000 | mail you@mail.com

so you only get the last 1000 lines of the last log.

Also you can add

echo $$ > server.pid

to capture the pid of the script. Usefull if you need to shut the ut server down (kill `cat server.pid`).

I've seen some people use crouch to position or angle a volley (from a stationary ball). Not sure if it makes any difference to hitting a ball standing up tho.

I think eNoS|S is asking wether you servers restart by them selves when they crash.

Yes, Im sure most linux UT2k3 servers are started in a loop, so that if for whatever reason it did crash, it would start up again.

1.6 crashes on my linux servers on a daily basis. Are you sure your 1.6 servers never crash? In fact, Im pretty sure other 1.6 servers (including gameserver ones) are crashing because once in a while everyone will be chucked from servers. I can give you loads and loads of crash logs if you require ...
