what about enterthegame? it's the default UT IRC server, so easier to find for newbies

maybe not the best implemntation, but the idea is there... there could be mandatory tests to unlock online play... after completing the tests, the game generates a key that goes with your nick that you can use to unlock the game (you could keep it, making doing the test again not necessary in case ...
