Because doesn't the latest version keep your server from being recognized as a standard server?

Ok.... I'm running my first dedicated server. It's Linux and runs fantastic! I've upped DB to the appropriate folders. I'm NOT using UT2vote and probably won't for a while. Is there a way to get this to be a voteable option for players to choose and play without using UT2Vote? Can't I do something ...
