Not only does english not belong to the germanic languages, it comes from the Anglo-Saxian (Saxan?) language, and is heavily influenced by germanic and latin languages, especially the french language.
Also, Japanese is pretty easy from what I've seen ;p grammar-wise, and even tho they have another alphabet and it hardly 'works' like ours, it's pretty simple and fun to learn
Your native language is easy to speak, because most people in your family know how to speak it but when you try ot learn another language, it's hard no matter what.
English is a piss easy language to sit an exam for, french is an ok one too, hardest language i've ever found is spanish. 3yrs ago i got an overall of 46% on the exam and that was one of the highest in the year lol
Thats what my teacher said when we had to choose out of spanish and russian, apparently russian is harder leaning up to GCSE's, and spanish is easier, but russian has a easier GCSE standard and spanish is harder
