Mousepads
I'm looking into buying a new mousepad, seeing as I'm currently just using my desk, which is shitty and is already ruining my mouse for a bit, and provides way too much friction. (fyi: I have a Logitech MX 700)
Mousepads are also supposed to boost performance, but I have no idea which one to choose O_o
I've read the following review:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/game/20040403/index.html
But it just doesn't seem right to me that the last mousepad was chosen to be the best. At first I was going to go for the icemat, but now I'm not sure..also the review doesn't contain most of the new pads (Ratzpad, fUnc pad..)
What mousepad have you guys had, and which ones have you tried?
Can you give me any tips?

Be sure to read this too tho: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/articles ... ndex.shtml
It seems a bit better tbh.

Athlon 64 3200+ retail - € 272,-
Abit KV8-MAX3 - € 139,-
Q-Tec 550W Dual Fan Gold - € 35,-
Chieftec BX-03B-B-B - € 93,50,-
Vantec VDK-PSU Anti Vibration Kit PSU - € 3,-
Thermaltake A1744 Venus 12 - € 30,-
Arctic Silver 5 - € 5,-
80mm Thermaltake Smartfan II - € 22,-
92mm Vantec Tornado - € 22,-
Vantec VDK80 Anti Vibration Kit 80mm fan - € 6,-
Vantec VDK80 Anti Vibration Kit 90mm fan - € 3,-

There's more tbh, but this is the stuff I'll actually be buying in may/june and july.
(New memory, monitor, hdd..just a massive upgrade tbh, not a new system)
Nice link btw..I already know it from tweaker's pricewatch tho
(which you no doubt already use
)

A friend of mine bought the Clanbase IceMat a while ago [http://server1.clanbase.com/icematnl/] (site is in dutch)
Its basically the original icemat with cb logo on it, very stylish and it works perfect. Thinking about buying one as well, but ~30 euros for a mousemat is fucking expensive imo..

oi
but go for the zalman CNPS7000A-(Al?)Cu CPU-cooler

keeps my AMD64 3200+ under 30°C in idle (i got the AlCu version)
and maybe get the ASUS K8V Mainboard since it has q-fan... but you should wait for the new sockel (939?) anyways

I reckon the venus can keep me at least as low as that =\
Not really sure tho ^^;
Besides..it's all copper <3
q-fan?

What's that about 'the new socket'? Is that for athlon64? =\
Off-topic btw: I'm also not all that sure about the PSU

q-fan?I kind of like the idea of abit's uGuru =/ I'll look up if q-fan is worth it

yeah the new socket is for a64... the current socket is already out of date -_-
ah well, don't really know that cooler and mainboard you choosed but i think the asus is the best a64 board atm...
550W is way too much i think

Ya well the 450 was ubarcheap..and it had already gone down in price so much, that I decided to choose the 550, who was now almost at the original price I found the 450watt version for
Besides..I don't like Zalman ¬_¬ only their 5.1 headphones

edit: http://www.a1-electronics.net/Res_Heats ... rOct03.gif <-- better ^^; actually compairs it to some other hsf and a watercooler, using a manual heat source (instead of a real processor, which allows for less realistic outcomes, but better comparison)

The point of a frictionless mousemat eludes me... surely if there's no friction the mouseball won't roll? Unless you're using an optical one i suppose...
