Hi,

Im totally new to UT, and recently bought UT2004. I heard your mod was good, installed it, follwed instructions, installed patch followed instructions yadda yadda yadda.

Right...when I start Deathball I get an error like:

Runtime Error!

Program: (UT2004 filepath here)

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

COntact application's support team ya ya ya wutever...

So can someone tell me why this happens?

Hmm

All the maps and that in UT2004/Deathball/Maps etc?

And are you starting the Play Deathball.cmd way?

I know you probably read this, if you didnt though or missed it it's worth a try ;)

Also, you using the latest UT2K4 Patch?

Since the deathball files are in the deathball folder. Try adding the inserted section to your UT2004.ini file.

Also, did you do this - In your ..ut2004\Deathball\system directory delete the deathball.ini and deathballuser.ini files. Make sure you didn't delete the wrong files.

did you update your unreal2004 to the latest patch? rumor has it it makes for some strange errors?

Myself and many others have no problems playing deathball with the patch. The Bud server is patched and a lot of people play on it with and without the patch. Not to say this is true for everyone but I haven't heard of someone who installed the patch saying deathball now doesn't work.

Sounds like you have some bad or missing deathball files (I'm assuming UT2004 works fine). Try reinstalling deathball and delete the deathball.ini and deathballuser.ini files.

(Fix) After working a bit on trying to solve Agent0007's server crashing, I managed to (i think) duplicate his problem. The immediate crashes stem from what I believe is an incomplete deathball.ini file that was built from a corrupt or non-existant default.ini file in ut2004\system. Anyway, let's fix it.

1.) Get this file and unzip it to your ..\ut2004\system directory. This ensures that you have the right base files that will be used to rebuild your deathball ini files successfully.

2.) In your ..ut2004\Deathball\system directory delete the deathball.ini and deathballuser.ini files - just like the TV guys have been telling everyone to do.

3.) Clients: Start Deathball with the play_deathball.cmd and all will be well."

Hi...i used that zip file, and did whatever, now it actually runs...but not Deathball, it only runs ut2004....any suggestions?

Hey there, same problem. I tried the suggestions, but no solution. The UT2004.exe (patch 3204) runs fine, it just gives me this runtime error when I attempt to run DeathBall. UT2004 will not even run as optime said most recently when I attempt the ini file solution; I just receive the same error. I don't know if this would be a problem: I have UT2004 installed on D:\ rather than C:\. Also, my UT2004 directory is rather deep as I am obsessive: "D:\Games\Unreal Series\UT2004." I would appreciate any further suggestions.

If you want to try to find out your problem, follow the instructions below.

1. reinstall UT2004 - (make sure it works)

2. install deathball + the deathball update

3. delete your deathball.ini and deathballuser.ini files

4.) Start Deathball with the play_deathball.cmd (this is inside you deathball folder - "play deathball" icon - see picture)

- now deathball should start and run after doing number four. If not, you are most likely doing something wrong. Also check this thread: http://forums.gameservers.net/showt...&threadid=12667. A few people did have some deathball install problems like "Your CD Key is invalid.." - this thread may help you

If everything works you can try the patch - it works fine for me. You can install the patch and start deathball the same as number four.

- if you could run deathball before the patch and then couldn't after the patch - then the problem is the patch for you. If you do run into this, please post so other will know the patch doesn't work for some.

Picture below - UT2004>Deathball>the picture - start deathball via the play_deathball.cmd = playdeathball icon in the picture.

Say what? It does work, but not if you install it to use the -mod switch.
