Custom Custom Models

Post by CripTonic »

Any chance that you could make certain parts to modify the current models? Add new shoulder pads, boots, gloves, etc...

If so could you provide the base model so we can model parts for the specific DB model?

its possible to edit the current range of models as it is, although importing new meshes and therefore changing the playermodel mesh usx wont allow you to join any servers (packages wont match).

from what i can work out of the code/meshes, it should be possible to add more, but to work as a functioning system, the introduction of new customisations would need to be done by tv themselves.

i guess TV would be happy to take you're contibutions and add them though.

The more options available the better.

Is it done like custom models where if you dont have it, it just doesnt show up?

Also, is the gear attached to the player bound to the player or made up of multiple models acting over eachother?

its not like custom player models, you and the server require the same version.

if you edit the current package, or the server holds a different package to you (very very unlikely), you wont be able to play online, as it will detect that yours isnt the same version, triggering the cheat protection. Both versions of the model must be the same (ie the released version) for it to work online.

each element of the customisation is a separate static mesh; the mohican is one mesh, a piece of armour is another etc, take a look at the pm_statics.usx to see how they are held. iirc, they are all built on a 90 degree angle around the model origin. If you are going to mess around with the db files, take a backup of the proper ones :)

give us a talented modeler+skinner with time, and there is a lot of stuff that we'll get done about models!
the 2 guys that did the current stuff have no time it seems

I guess they also had no time to implement the models from the mugs we sent?
