well, some might still remember that map, i started it some time back in the early days of deathball but never really finished it
anyways i ported it to db 2.0 / ut2k4 (ain't too hard eh? :p ) but also improved some things like pbox size and ballspawn:
for first kickoff the ball stays at it's lock - middle of ceiling of the middle tower - and you have to get it either via the jumppad below it or by boosting. right after the ball has been taken out of his lock the first time the jumppad is covered by some glass pane - the ball will drop down in future if it gets reset. might sound complicated but it really isn't [i'm thinking about replacing the jumppad animation with a watersurface once it's covered by glass]
another thing in it are the tons of community-made banners but most are old so if you got better ones feel free to post them here / send them to me / whatever ( should be at least 512x256 )

idd but i think he just meant both have some kind of block in the middlemuch older then blockbowl though i guess :O
but well, it's not the same as blockbowl - the middle tower is open to each side, so you can pass or walk through it but ye, it still might suffer from similar gameplay defects anyways, got to test that map when it's more or less done, and if the tower really disturbs the gameflow i can still change that
