Random instagib penalty zone thoughts...
Rather than allowing any player to kill any opposition attacker in the penalty box, how about only keeping the instagib mode for goalkeepers and limiting defenders to 80 points per tackle on the ballcarrier?
This would encourage teams to tackle ballcarriers further up the pitch, so that defenders have a good chance of still being able to kill players in dangerous areas.
In order to prevent excessive hanging inside the penalty zone, the defenders could be alowed to inflict 10 points damage per hammer hit to any opposition in their penalty zone...

i disgree, instagib creates box campers. A defender has more tools to his disposal than the instagib in regards to recovering an enemy ball.
The best defenders i'v seen play so far are ones that don't rely on the box and instead cover their opponent and cut off passing lines.
People say an attacker cant score 1v1 on a defender and shouldnt be able to, so taking away his passing targets or forcing an interception are much smarter ways top play defense IMO.
Box camping is just noob-tactics

I disagree. The best defenders I know mark intelligently, moving to mark the biggest danger at the time - this might be tightly marking an attacker who's about to recieve the ball, or standing in space behind the attack to take on anyone who gets boosted over. Most defenders don't go exclusively for interceptions unless they're sure they'll get them, otherwise you leave yourself wide open with space behind you if the ball reaches the attacker.
Since attackers are so powerful in the penalty box - especially those who can volley effectively, you need to be able to deal with them via the instagib. It keeps play farther out on the pitch and prevents attackers who boxcamp (if everyone could run in without fear of being killed, then a lot more play would be in the box).
Box-camping exclusively is a so-called "noob tactic" because it leaves vast amounts of space between your defense and the midfield. Sweepers are part of play going forward as well as defending - if you pass back to your sweeper you can pick out players who are otherwise covered, or draw defenders foward onto your team leaving space behind them. It's also a good way to keep posession. If a team IS box-camping, then there are ways around it - running into the box to draw out defenders (if only just to come kill your attacker - you'll have more free attackers since they're unmarked), or the sweeper could even come up to the edge of the box. This leaves you exposed at the back, but there's the likelyhood of your attackers being killed and therefore able to defend any people who boost forward after... the idea is to be patient.
Err, anyway, in conclusion I think instagib in the box is good for balance and should be kept the way it is. It doesn't seem that way in public games, i suspect, because there's a lot less teamwork, and players don't tend to know each other that well. The general level of skill is also lower, so there's less opportunity to take the chances that come along.

hint, it makes no difference if you remove 60 or 80 points, only point is that you need 2 hits, and it sucks. in one version long long ago, this was a bug of db, and people almost killed me.......and for a good reason, played like shit.
i wont change anything about this, its a key element of db and must stay

why is everybody keen on changing defenders now?
This idea is stupid imo =/
I don't want to do 80 damage, thats the same as 60 damage just takes longer to recharge. If I see a pass, I should be able to kill one before he receives pass, 80 damage does shit, especially with all thsoe crossvolley lamers, they can then get away...

Defensive boost hammer (diff team only) should boost attackers away to their own goal.
COS ITS SUPARUNBALLENCED!
...
Will people stop trying to change defense?
I mean, 1 thread gets started and rejected.
Another starts with another "problem" - rejected
Then another...
rinse and repeat...
EDIT: Wheres the "DEFENSE IS OK FOR THE 90TH TIME!" Option?

Yes..stop being random because this makes no sense ¬_¬
80 HP damage is just another hit.
Stop trying to change defense, it's fine like this and if anything shouldn't be changed in DB besides keepers and being able to pick up the ball then it's instagib in pbox ¬_¬
