www.db-community.com Needs A Makeover...

Post by Catalyst88 »

Well, we've decided that our nice brown theme, whilst it is functional, really needs a makeover. To keep up with the changing face of DB-Community.com we're wanting to go for more of a sports-oriented feel, perhaps something like this or this, something which looks and feels a bit more like a pro sports network. This is because we're going to be changing the focus of DB-Com a little bit... more coverage of games, teams and players - with match reports and interviews, as well as player profiles. We're also catering more for people who want to upload their files for the wider world to see - things like new maps and mods, or demos of games. We're hopefully going to see some more reviews of maps in our reviews section as well. So we're moving away from the competition side of things and focusing more on bringing you coverage of the action :p

So if you feel that you've got what it takes to make us a new theme for the site, please reply to this post or contact Catalyst or DevNull in IRC (#dbcommunity on irc.quakenet.org or irc.gamesurge.net). We're looking for not only a new logo, but a new forum theme, and new button graphics, as well as a colour scheme. If you want to help out, then go for it :p

We're also looking for some people to help us out with coverage of games, map reviews and the like, so if you want to be a part of that then contact us as well :)

great idea catalyst.

i believe this approach will fill a void currently present in the db-scene and prevent unnecessary overlap.

i also agree there needs to be a separate entity to the official db servers but don't expect there to be much content until the league/ladders actually begin.

and a small separate competition held by the db-community during the off-season should keep the die hard ballers happy too...

Community Shield perhaps? ;)

To be honest before going for BIG THING like interview and players profile, it would be better to make LITTLE THINGS working IMO
BTW i'm here for everything u need, i could review map, i can use photoshop very good and also i can design pages...
Let me now... But wait i back from holiday in 3 weeks...
Ciao Cata :D

Something like this, sorry i've done this in 10 minutes stoned, but just an idea what i'd like, DavidM and community working all toghether , having only a site ... owns tbh

But seeing as both sites are already working quite fine in terms of usability, there's enough room to look at improving aesthetics (without damaging usability of course)

Am I the only one who doesn't like the sports lay-out? /o\

I'm better at saying I hate stuff ;)

Personally I'm fine with db-community's personal lay-out, and I could live with the sporty lay-out too (although I'm not sure if it'd be all that functional :| and there seems to be hardly any reason other than that Deathball is a 'sports game').

I dunno...can't think of any suggestions atm :) feel free to slap me :o

Idd both websites are some what dull. Makes you not want to visit them it seems:eek: . Idd relik this colour is also quite bad, does look like shit etc:p .

As long as we can use it easy enough though is what counts :|
