I dont think (Sky News didnt say..) its been finalised, or a fee agreed - but he passed a medical (ha, like he needed one) so... i guess he's in.

well once Robson was kicked out, there was nowhere else he was likely to go.

This might also be a blessing in disguise for the toon army as well. The money they save not buying Rooney could be better spent on an improved defence and midfield. Last thing Newcastle need is another striker.
