This sounds like the problem the other thread is about but its a bit different.

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2027 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: RADEON 9200 SE (6360)

Could not spawn a GUI Controller!

History: UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free

It says could not spawn a GUI controller but my mouse is working fine

i had the same problem and fixed it, i think it's something to do with deathball packages in your ut2004/system folder and the other folders for deathball, if so... delete all the db files you can see in those folders.

if that's not it then try doing a clean install of db 2.2 and put it in ut2004/deathball and get rid of any previous versions of deathball.

I hope this helps. :)

Best is indeed to reinstall UT2004
and to NOT install deathball to UT2004\deathball\

you have to install it to UT2004\
then it will be put into ut2004\deathball\.
If you install it to ut2004\deathball\ it will be ut2004\deathball\deathball\ which ain't working.
