Standalone Deathball

Post by Passenger82 »

Hello Guys,

I've a question concerning deathball:

Is there a way to build a standalone Version of the Deathball Mod ? I already tried to copy the necessary files out of the UT2004 Folder in another directory, but it didn't work. The Error was, that the Progra mm couldn't create a so called "GUI Controller".

The reason I ask this, is that I don't want to waste 5 GB with the complete UT2004 - Game, because I only play Deathball.

I own a version of UT2004, so this is not illegal - is it ?

I would be pleased to get answers.

So long , Passenger82

P.S.: I really enjoy this gametype !:p

You can start by trashing all the stock UT2004 maps.

After that, you can take the chance of tossing some of the stock textures and statics.. However, if any 3rd party deathball maps need any of them.. boom.

I think that someone already made a list of the files that could be deleted from the UT2004 folder. But i really don't know.

Be patient and I'm sure some1 with more knowledge in this question will help you.

This is probably not helpful now, but if the files are similar, feel free to give it a go

Deathball only file list only tested with DB-Cube, DB-Smallcube, Ut2003 and deathball v1.9b. Credit to messy.

I wouldn't recommend using my list (thx l0af :o) with UT2k4 and DB 2.2

The best you could do is delete all ONS, DM, AS etc. maps, then cut and paste the contents of your textures directory to somewhere else, then re-add everything until you can start and play DB properly.
Then do the same for your staticmeshes folder :o

That removes the bulk of it I guess.
Also try joining online games, with UT2k3 I experienced packages still missing, which UT2k3 then downloaded and cached (in a matter of seconds) from the server, I don't know how this is for UT2k4, shouldn't give any problems though I guess.
