The death blow to the Australian DB community?

Post by Armagon »

About a month ago our most popular and reliable Deathball server (OzForces) was taken down. We didn't know why this had been done, and the administrator gave us no explanation. We have had to make do with a couple of lousy GameArena servers that lag and spike, and this has put off a lot of the players here (particularly the veterans).

After OzForces put up a Frag Ops server, this led me to wonder why they wouldn't spare the time to provide us with a Deathball server and asked that they get one running again. The response I got was most interesting.

I have tried to clarify that the rush of betas stopped over a month ago and that they weren't required to do every little update to keep us happy, but I doubt this will persuade them.

Click here if you wish to read the thread more fully.
You will want to skip the first few posts to reach those regarding the Deathball server. I'm hoping the admin will respond soon.

It is my understanding that Team Vortex are planning on using the same approach to their beta testing for 2.3?

the aussie admins need not participate inthe beta testing...

being such a secluded community anyways (are there many non aussies who play in aussieland?) they should not notice a difference?

just ideas...

:(

*sheds tear*

That would suck dude o_O

But seeing as the Ozzy community has already (almost) died once before..I really think you can get on top of this.

I do hope the OzForces guys can work this out :)
Beta-testing doesn't have to be participated in.

A couple of guys are trying to get another server setup, though there is no guarantee those will run it perfectly since they'd be from home computers. Nobody is really sure of anything right now.

That sucks :(

It was nice going to that server at 6 a.m here, and lag my ass to death.

i might be able to remedy that situation.

you see, a comp was held where teams of 5 played a beta version of MOH:PA and each team represented a major LAN in our area. Well, the team i was in won the comp and the prize was an AU$8000 server for the LAN rep'd by the winning team. A chat to the admins of the LAN and there is a strong possibility that the server we won will go online.

g0t yay?
