This coach thread doesnt seem to be getting anywhere fast (pretty much like the last one). So instead i suggest maybe ppl post the 12 ppl they think, or would like to be in the UK squad. Eventually once 12 ppl have been decided on, 'they' and only they can elect one of thier 11 team mates to be the leader. I think this would work better, as then the leader wouldnt have the pressure of selecting the team =| <- as who would be most likely to get the blame if it went wrong =(

Strikers = Rage, Cata, Spiker, Morning Star
Defenders = NaB, Axl, Doc Savage, Flak
All Rounders = Moonhead, Chrisfu
Keepers = Bedlam, Me (Hopefully) =)

I know, but why should clan tags matter? and its only a nomination its far from being anything final LOL. Its obvious I'm going to vote for the players I know and who I think can do the job anyway =/

Good job u brought this up tho Rob as, if this may cause problems there could be a limit to how many players from the same clan can be in one team. Say 5-3?

I think this a good idea.

How the squad of 12 gets selected still needs to be decided though. Could this be done with a poll to choose strikers/defenders/keepers/all rounders ?

tbh, i think its the captains job to decide who gets into the squad either with or without the help of vice-captain(s) etc...

i think we've pretty much got a list of nominated captains there. lets get the ball rolling on actually picking one of them out.

I hope the person chosen is someone who plays for a very active clan and has therefore had a wide exposure to a lot of DB clans/players. Cos imo he's more likely to have seen most players in action and hopefully would be able to impartially pick out the strongest possible squad.

Either way sounds good to me, but I just dont want some noobs, to elect someone they think is great, when actually there just an average player who doesnt really know many ppl. =(

I was in a IRC channel the other day called #deathballuk or something like that, and I only knew about 3 ppl (inluding me =)

Since alot of ppl in that channel seemed quite new, I doubt they know most of the top UK DB players. (Since very few top DB players use public servers regularly)

But it may have just been a case, of it was a UK channel and not an Eng channel?? Would explain why didnt know hardly anyone.

Someone needs to put down a definitive list of who they can vote for, or setup a poll??? which ever is easiest. Since u suggested it nab how about giving it a try? =)

Personally I think it'd be better to elect a coach and have that person and a couple of advisors select the squad? Otherwise it all just deteriorates into thousands of people saying what they think the squad should be, and it'll undoubtably end up in a flamewar of some sort. I also think any coach should hold trials to see who works best with who, in what formation and give anyone who might not be quite so well known to have a fair chance (people are bound to be biased otherwise). Just an idea . Oh, and if we do end up nominating players, I think SamY should get a mention, he's excellent at boosting people . There should be a proper poll held to decide on a coach, otherwise the team ain't going anywhere quickly imo (take the nominations so far, plsu any others people suggest in the next few hours then do a poll based on that and then let the coach go on how they want from then... that's the whole point of a coach, you're supposed to trust them to pick and lead a team, whilst being a part of that team, whether they play or not:ie listening to what people say). Of course if the coach doesn't turn out to be any good you can always vote them off again . And it shouldn't be a dictatorship under any circumstances... 'tis a team game .

Thats another thing the leader will need to do, not just pick the players out of the most popular clans, but scout around all clans looking at all the english players, tbh it's only fair. When I qualified for rugby for my county 350 of us went through lots of training just to pick 24, maybe something like that should be held after 2/3 leaders are chosen
