Hi all,

This is a public notice to let you all know, that because of all the arguing etc that has been going on around the ops on #dbpickup, Goldeneye, Catalyst and myself have decided to reorganise the op list for the channel. Please keep flaming, pleading etc to a minimum.

This public notice was the first any of us got about it, including those being removed. Ok, I've lost op, I would rather not have, but I was more disappointed that there no notices, warnings or real reasons given. First I find out about it is when the bot only gives me voice

Yeah 2 years of my time, since the day the channel was started, and not even a kthx goodbye. If I sound bitter - its because I am, and I guess it's unprofessional of me to sound off on here in public, as I tend to dislike others doing it, but hey, that's how I feel.

PS. Voluntary deop - if they would have asked for some of us to step down they could have had my deop straight away. This method is rather like being fired by text message.

Perfectly agreed moonhead.

Catalyst first says he doesn't care about this channel and comes around once a week. One day he shows up with a bad mood or a thumb up his/her ass and decides "oh wait nevermind, i do care, let's deop people before going away again". No matter how much i'd like to respect him/her for the reputation shown during these years, i just can't. Attitudes like this are based on emotions on the sput of the moment.

Fact #1 - Someone else should've been the creator of a channel with this purpose

Fact #2 - People will eventually stop using this channel and move to another if this crap keeps going, no matter how much resistance this will offer at the beggining.

Because yes, this decision was taken solely by me and on the spur of the moment. It's not like there were several months of increasing discontent with ops and posts on forums, on (certain) sites and PMs to DB pickup operators about it. And before you accuse me of not caring, I do care, and I care a lot, otherwise I wouldn't feel bad about agreeing with wibble and goldy on the op list, because there are some people who I'd consider friends who wouldn't like it, but how would you have done it? And it wasn't simply a spur of the moment decision or mine alone, it was done to reduce the amount of squabbling and petty arguments over ops and their actions that goes on.

And moon, I apologise, I consider you a friend, but being a friend isn't the only criteria for being an op (to be honest that's what's caused a lot of what's gone on in the first place). It was a badly executed action in that respect, I admit it could've been handled better. I suspect I deserve any hate sent my way, but I am (even if you don't believe me) just supporting what I think was a good decision by the group of admins in #dbpickup (Not just me, and not just spur of the moment, no matter what you think).

Happy new year everyone, and try not to kill yourselves over DB.

And on the subject of the DB community, I still think it's worth trying to preserve because most of it's good people, DB isn't dead, although more could be done to attract new players.

there are few places where people feel cooler while being op....
all who want to be ops just to be ops should be excluded by default :<

Well, it's good to be honest. And we've just pruned the op list, not adding to it, at least not at the moment. We'll see how it goes.

Just wondering why bl44t and fee are still ops? do they even play DB? and moon got de-opped when he is maybe even the activest op
