1.7 Scoring

Post by Onge »

The individual scores (F1) are to be taken out in favour of some in-depth stats...While I love the idea of the stats, why can't we have both? An overview of your score compared to everyone else as it is now and the stats of passes, shots, saves etc that's being worked on for 1.7?

Cuz deathball is a team game, its just ultra lame when you go and play and everyone is screaming volly only, but they just volly it to themselves to score so they can be #1 on the list.

while trying to be the best player is all fine and dandy, its the team with the most points that really counts...

plus some of the scoring doesnt always mean they've been doing a good job for the team. for example getting points for killing peopl in your goalie area, maybe your killing them resulted in them respawning on their side of the field just intime to stop an empty net goal...

What does your personal score matter? Like Inphidel said, Deathball is a teamgame so it's about your team's score :)

Ok, fair enough...Some good reponses there...But will the new scoring system do stats for the entire team or is it just for each person? If there is a team stats then you could then see how prolific the team is as a whole, whether one team is good at stopping the other team passing or whatever...

Hopefully DavidM will reply to the thread. about any player specifics but I think it is just team based scoring no individual stats at all.

(tho I wish some would be implimented like how many times a player has pressed the shot button, how many assists, and how many goals, and how many times he pressed the pass button.) you could in a sense get a shot percentage and pass effectiveness percentage from those numbers.

But i'm glad for once personal stats arnt a huge part of the game. i remember back in the days of playing games like day of defeat. and team fortress (for quake world) and even tho one team has more points, or captures then the next, some single player with the highest score hasta say "I won!" even if he's on the losing team.. tis gay.

Exactly right. A person with a -2 score over 30 minutes could easily have done as much good work for their team as one with 95 points.

Or maybe NOT.

Score's a good indicator. Naturally in the end it doesn't matter, but since you get points for doing things for your team, a person with a high score is likely to be a good team player.

.....or a ballhog

also, the keepers get way too many points for what they do. (I know it's different in 1.7 beta...im talking abouy 1.6 :P) Sure the keepers have a hell of a task to fufill, but they get 100+ points every game. Way overrated.

You get more points for passing than you do getting boned by the defense if you hold the ball.

For someone to do really well as a ball hog, they have to be able to beat the defense extremely often... if they can do that... maybe its not such a bad idea to give them the ball...

and if they didnt _always_ camp the pbox that might be possible. Defense is just too easy to play and involves little to no skill. I'v seen n00b come and go from DB all the time. Every single one of them goes on offense and screws up games but when we make them stay back games play pretty well. Theres a HUGE skill differential between the 2 positions and its actually pretty pathetic.
