Who wants a 1.6b?

Who wants a 1.6b?
Just the same as 1.6...but with the n00b-cannon taken out...
Is the noobcannon really that much of a problem?
The answer is: no. I've noticed the people that tend to moan about it all the seem to spend all their time on pubs. The only reason people want it out is to save face, because they keep getting owned by it.
Also, think about HOW it could be removed. Code to remove the cannon may have an adverse effect on gameplay, possibly even MORE slowdown after shooting the ball. You think noobcannon is bad? Well, its a hell of a lot better than the alternatives.

TBH chrisfu it pi$$ed me off most in a match...and in a pick-up match...and the code to get rid of it is just 1 simple value that was in there b4, but DavidM told TNSE to take it out cos he had forgotton what it did...putting it back in would be VERY easy. And the reason I want it out is cos it's not meant to be there, and makes taking a normal shot pretty pointless.
Well said Chrisfu...
Too many DB players seem to moan when someone develops a skill that they don't like. First it was dribbling, now the n00b-cannon...If players have the innovation to create new skills they shouldn't be punished because of the moaners who can't develop the skills to counter-act this...
The n00b-cannon is no worse than the self wallpass volley which is just as selfish, just as powerful and just as hard to save if you're the keeper.

Skill? You drop the ball in front of you and hit it...not much skill involved.
And if you are on a break from your team, you aren't gonna sit there and wait for your team, of course you would do the wall self pass volley, or whatever you called it....at least it takes some skill

the point is not weither or not it should be taken out, but that it is going to be taken out and it is better to have to get used to it now than have to do so later. if you have played the 1.7 beta you will know that taking the n00b cannon out does not cause any problems, it is just like it was back in 1.4b, it is still possible to do so this simalar to the n00bcannon (rush's masterfooman did the cannon b4 back in the days of 1.4b).
right now the n00b cannon is much faster to get off than a well placed shot and with proper techinque you don't even need as much room as you do for a shot (a nonshakie shot that is), and it is just about the difficulty to aim. if i was a n00b i would try and master the n00b cannon instead of mastering the reg shot becuase it is easer and can be more effective, and that is not how it should be.

My biggest problem with the cannon is how fast it comes off. Because of the volley speed thing. I -like- the noob cannon in that it lets you tactically pick where you want the ball to fly from, as opposed to a shot which always comes from teh center of you.
With the cannon, you can pop a ball up, then slam it down at the goalie's feet, or push it down and shoot it up over his head. You can even throw it right then slam it left, or throw it right and push it forward for a shot that's the same, just a foot to the side. The people who just drop the ball then nail it don't know how to cannon correctly.
That said, if it were to be removed, I'd rather see it removed by increasing the minimum shot power, it would offer a quick-shot replacement for the cannon (yes you can use the pass button... but with shot, it makes it so you can calibrate the distance a little more, and also, if its an attractive option to use shot, it gives the defense a chance to shake) and its a simple fix, because it would push the ball out of range (ever try to noob cannon in dodgeball? A bit of an extreme.. but a good example. Or if the speed were like an untargetted pass... ever try to cannon a pass?) and it wouldn't adversely effect other volley-related parts of the game, like where people set the ball relatively close to the wall and jump back and hit it, which takes place over a timespan less than a second.

you shut up.
Like rampart said. You have no rational concept of the usefulness of the n00b cannon aside form straight on shots.
if you sit in the pbox and wait for someone to shoot... not much skill involved
and if you get a break on your team the now with quad jump keeper will just jump up and catch the wall volley. Soo there will be a day when the shot speed is reduced to piss and many offensive players will quit. The shot is already lost almost all usefullness, wall volleying is easily countered by the extreme cannon range and the pbox camping totally kills close shots. As long as the keeper is somewhat skilled and can save side shots your teams set for life.

Can we say "Taken out of context"? Sure the n00b cannon can be useful, but it's pretty lame when it's used in a volley only game, though it is a volley technically, it defeats the purpose of volley only. (I know a lot of you don't like volley only, but that's your problem, so please, dont complain "But i dont like volley only, so i love the n00b cannon" and whatnot)
so lemmy get this straight. You dont like the n00b cannon because it ruins volley only games? duh, just put a message in the MOTD that says "n00b cannon = temp ban. No argueing." Its not like its a hard problem to solve. I never use the n00b cannon, i'm not good at it. I stick to regular volleying for the most part except in close range breakaways when theres no time to charge a shot or set up a walley volley. I'm not some n00b that goes spamming the move so don't get me wrong, but in the sence of reality its a more realistic shot, sad but extremely true. In what sport do you have to wait 1.25 seconds to shoot a ball? the n00b cannon takes almost exactly .75 seconds to pull off and can be very easily interupted by a good defender. Much like a slap shot in hockey, its fast and hard and if you know what your doing, very accurate. I still dont see why its being taken out and i highly disagree with it being taken out but i'm not going to sit here and plead my case to someone who wont listen and thinks that deathball should be realistic. In my opinion i think DB should honestly be all n00b cannons and pass shots. Why? because they are instant shots. No charge. More realistic.
