True, but another way to look at this is: Liverpool won the UCL, they earned their spot.

Remember that in the old Champions League/Cup format, only the domestic champions and the competition holder were actually allowed to participate in it :)

Was reading the totally reliable Sun newspaper today - they reckon (dont ask me where they pull this shit from) that Turkish side fenerbahce will be left out next season, as out of the 16 qualified teams, they're 16th .. or some bollocks..

Anyway, woooooo, no :p Turkey will go round and stab some fans.. oh wait, they do that anyway (duh)

if liverpool are good enoguh to win the champions league (which they shouldnt have cos they DIDNT score past chelsea LAMERS!!) then they should be good enough to come at least fourth in the premiership, shows ya how much luck/skill is involved with that team!

im sorry gaz but if it was man utd/evertonians in that final i'd rather shoot myself than to cheer on the local rivalry.

austin it shows that Liverpool no matter what happens are the best team... we got a better result i think at stamford bridge than you did at anfield to allow us to qualify...not liverpools fault you couldnt beat us at your own ground. (and just think.. at the time, 1-0 down or 0-0 with a penalty..and chech sent off?) kthx.

Technically, what practical advantage does playing 'at your own ground' really give you?

Nothing measurable anyway /o\

A hostile crowd can intimidate opposing players. Of course it can also spur them on, depending on the person.

I cheered on Liverpool in that final... Im an everton supporter O_o yes it may be cheering on the rivalry, but in the CL wouldnt you rather an english club win it? Its not the home rivalries ... Welllll what ever, Id rather cheer an english/welsh/scottish club on in the final of the CL, Man UTD, Arsenal, Chelsea... Liverpool, hell i'd cheer Yeovil on (Dont laugh, Yeovil are destined for the premiership and the Champions League o; )

edit: lotsa lotsa text ^
