Ok
I shalt rephrase the question.
Add a single line to IX to form a single digit even number?

Use a very bold line to cover the bottom half and get IV

Very good answer and I think I'll accept it for its creativity
What I was thinking of was SIX

You have four matches forming a square shape
Add three unbroken matches to form a cube?
And no you're not allowed to move any of the four that are already there
I wonder if anyone will get it before I come back tomorrow

No straight matchsticks, and yes it is a perfect cube before anyone asks

Right Im off to get some sleep.
Remember that it is a lateral puzzle so the answer may not be as straightforward as you think

You put three matchsticks to make two sqaures. From that, you can get c, u, b, e, C, U, B and E. And if you're fussy, A as well.

Three really fat matchsticks that you can lay sidebyside to make a cube
