Join DB server through shortcut

Post by three_pineapples »

Hi,

I've been attempting to create a shortcut to join a specific DB server. I assumed it was the same as UT2004 and it could be written something like....

c:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe <server ip> -mod=deathball

I know this works for UT2004 without a mod (for joining a server) and it should theoretically work for other mods (haven't tried it though) but it doesn't seem to work for Deathball.

if i create a shortcut pointing to...

c:\UT2004\System\UT2004.exe 139.134.253.13 -mod=deathball

it just loads up deathball, but doesn't even attempt to join the server. Is there a way of making it do this?

Hm, get a prog like xfire, hlsw or another server browser and click there to join a specific DB server ;)

Doesn't work anymore (at least for me). The TCP/IP connection is closed as soon as the menu loads. Who knows why?

yeah, part of the reason i want to get this working is because i want to give xFire the ability to join DB games. It didn't work though, so i thought i'd try to get a standard shortcut working first.

Guess its not gonna happen.

Wasn't there some movement to add a deathball://<ip:port> association as a simple regedit file for easy import?

If not, I'll get on it once I get home...

Yikes.. I'm making too much of a list of chores already.

I'm on dialup while I'm on the road... it took me five mins to just post this! (I'll check the thread tho.. let me put the kettle on while I wait for it to load...)
