Auto-Pause

Post by Axl »

hi,

in my old UT days of clanning there was a serverside mutator which could be installed and configured, so that when a player dropped out of the server, the game was automatically paused straight away. Does anyone know if one exists in UT2003 yet? If not maybe this could be something that could be quickly added into 1.7 before it comes out.. I think this would cut a lot of "Paused in a bad situtation" arguments. I know it *could* be abused, but tbh it wasnt really ever abused in UT, and it helped more than not.

In a game like Deathball that'd be awful. If you'd have seen the Clanbase game the other day, you'd know why. ;)

Best thing is for a admin spec, with nice binds and good awareness of when and when not to pause. :)

i did see the game, and there was a lot of "Specs wake up" shouting.. this would solve that :) make it so u can turn it on and off obviously.. but I honestly think it would help. Esp with the un-pausing part too, as it had a nice count down feature, and u could set it to only allow a certain ammount of time for each team pauses so not to be abused. worth a look tbh

What about a voting system for un-pausing? :D Incase the dude that left didn't come back, you can vote for un-pause

You could even give it an audible countdown, eg Pause in 3, 2, 1, ...

So everybody has warning.

it did.. the clan which lost the play could type "GO" and the match would continue. while the other clan could type "HOLD" to give the missing player more time to come back if needed..

it did that too :)

it was/is a really good mutator, and most clans in UT actually only play on a server with it now. I believe in fact most clanbase cup games require it on a server now too!? (not sure tho)

would be verry handy if the clan supported it, not everyone will use that sort of pause from my guessing.

maby not built into db, but there for use from someone.

would imagine some clans will have one of the attackers or someone who is out of the play suddenly "lose connection" while the opposition was in the middle of a charge up to mess up a goal scoring opportunity. And of course the rules will just say "if someone drops out and it pauses during a good chance, tough $h1t"
