you can take 2 numbers and put them together to make a bigger number.

I'll do that - *scratches head, confused* But - that was not what I asked - I meant, what do you USE those numbers for? WHY do you count? Just to be less bored?

Sometimes you use counting to see if everything is where it should be. So if someone has 10 chairs and he counts them every day, and one day a chair is gone, he counts to 9 and starts looking for the tenth chair.
