The Eraser..

Post by Messy »

The Eraser...Has anyone got it, and how is it? (Should I buy it?)

I'm particularly waiting for Rincewind's answer here.
..I know he's a big Radiohead fan, and if he hasn't bought it himself yet, he'll probably have gotten it at his birthday :)

So, tell me! Samples don't tell me enough :o

its not a bad album, its not a great one.. there are some standouts tracks, theres quite a bit of fluff. Im not the greatest fan of some of the newer stuff (prefer the older, more focused radiohead). Eraser is a bit wiffly and head-in-clouds at times.

it shows what the rest of radiohead actually do on an album

I agree with Fro to an extent. It's very good from my point of view, but Fro described how sounds compared to Kid A, etc.
There are some review on different sites that say this sort of thing better than me. You get the feeling that Thom didn't really think about creating the song, but just tried to expand on an idea. But then again for a collection of songs that he's made on his laptop, waiting around in airports and places, it's excellent. The standouts for me are The Eraser, Black Swan, And it Rained All Night and Harrowdown Hill. These seem like proper songs more than the others (for example, Atoms for Peace just gets nowhere.) The Eraser builds on piano chords and Thom's voice is excellent. Harrowdown Hill is also noticeably voice-oriented. This album shows much more of Thom's voice; Cymbal Rush is the most instrumental. If you loved Kid A you'll probably like the Eraser.

Yeah I got it for my birthday, I knew I was getting it ;)

(And PS: Yes, he... )

Edited, it makes sense now.
