A volley intercept to an enemy isn't necessarily a bad thing. You will be volleying away from goals. So you are basically stalling the offence for a little while allowing your team to get the back.
But basically this is all you are doing - stalling..
So x points for the volley intercept.
-x for the bad pass
= net result of zero.
You haven't done anything good as the opposition is still in possesion. You've just re-instated the previous position - them having ball and attacking.
If your team is able to make something of this 'stalled time'... then the bonuses come from getting subsequent tackles / intercepts.
So you haven't changed the status quo... you're just relying on you team to do something in the small amount of time you've gained for them to get back. The team only gets points if they do make use of this time and do get back to do something.

Points reduce over time. Maybe 5 a minute or so.
So a player has to 'do something' to stay on 50. They have to do something 'good' to keep above 50.
100 becomes harder and harder to get, as you have to do something good 'consistantly' to keep moving up.
Standing around doing nothing means you'll get zero points from a 10 minute game.... as you should.

my oh my, poor keepers, standing there, points-a-dwindling…o\
That thought did cross my mind yesterday, but I soon disregarded it... Surely it would be better to start the game with less points than to automatically remove them at set time intervals?
Software mode...... lol!
