Your right and wrong DavidM. You won't master the game playing instant action. However, a new player can develop the basics of the game " get the hang of it". Know how to pass, boost, shoot and get a basic understanding of how to play. They can get a little experience so instead of being a confused newbie online, they can be at the point where they can play, learn, and develop their skills. You may still consider them a "noob", but they should be past being a total green horn.

For those who don't think bots and #3 matter: Here is a review of a map at: http://www.ut2003files.com/file.info?ID=16348 (the rating was just done a few minutes ago.)

This is a medium sized map, made for the UT2003 mod, Deathball. It takes place in some sort of small stadium, under a moonlit sky. To be frank, I've never played Deathball before this, but this map was a good start for whoever hasn't played Deathball, since its really well made.

The texturing on this map is cool, with a large grass lawn stretching across the map. The walls were a nice, simple brick texture, which was pleasing to the eyes. The sky has a nice picture of mars, which looks spectacular.

There's no weapons or health pickups on this map, as it is a Deathball map.

The flow on this map seems to be fast, with the action quickly changing directions. The bots are agressive, and go everywhere the human player can go.

I liked this map, and I think it has convinced me to play Deathball now, since it seems to be quite competative. The flow was fats, and the action quite fun, with some nice visuals. If you like Deathball, I think you would like this map, and would enjoy it even if you have never played Deathball.

DB-ClearNight is not on any servers. The guy had a positive experience with deathball playing instant action.

I have always enjoyed have good bots handy because there are times when you cannot be online or just want to play quickly and the way you want.

Bots can really help you adjust and practice for online.

I have always wanted good bots for Deathball.

I really hope they are given attention. I believe it will really bring even better things to this mod!

Really the only way to get someone into DB is to host a 2 person server, get them to join, explain the game. have him shoot a few times until he starts being able to score.

then explain volley and boost and say "let's go play online".

Just telling someone to download and play will NEVER get them hooked.

I suggest making August 1st the official 'Introduce someone to Deathball' day! ;)

TBH...when I started...I just d/l got on line and played...

but then hardly any1 knew what a volley was, or boosting...but the basics are very easy.

When I first got DB, the first thing I did was go into bot match and start playing. Because I didn't have the net at the time, it was all I could do. However, because I didn't know any better, I thought it was quite fun playing with the bots. :)
