Level 72

I feel kinda weird bragging on this forum, especially since there seem to be some genuinely genius-level intellects who are breezing through these riddles. However, I'm genuinely beaming with pride and I know that if I don't share this here, there's literally no one else I could go to who would care.

Long story short, I got onto this level today, but I'm spending the week in a house that doesn't have a printer. So i wasn't able to print out, cut or stick anything. Still, I was able to figure out a general shape from the image, and then use the clues to get a good enough idea about how to form the answer from that. Then I just followed the shape with my eyes to work out where the numbers ought to be when the 'thing' is fully assembled, and I got the answer first try!!

So it seem like i did the first step and i have a very good idea about the second step. Can someone confirm my idea?
