Had to comment for the first time. This was brilliant. So satisfying to build and piece together the answer. I'm keeping mine forever.

If you are having a little trouble distinguishing shades on this puzzle, throw the image into Gimp and make adjustments (Color -> Curves). You can then mark-up the printed image and make sure you're not screwing up the 'easy' part.
