Seperate downloads for DB/TEN/DBW

Post by YoYo789 »

I was going to send Tennis to a couple of friends who don't have broadband, and was trying to make it fit on a CD-R which had limited space, so I only took the files necessary for Tennis.

I figure, why not have seperate downloads for DB/TEN/DBW. Could be done by putting the core files in a package (The files used by all three), and putting the gametype-specific files in seperate packages (e.g. maps and certain other things).

Basically I'm willing to spend the time on this, mainly so when I want people to go against in Tennis/DBW I can just tell them to download the smaller zips.

But I need to know if it is ok with the mod team, I don't see why it wouldn't be ok, but I don't want to bother if it going to be illegal to put it on the website.

I would only include db files and maybe a readme which explains which packages to download if you want to add another gametype.

So, pretty please?

Oh, this would also be a great way to distribute the extra maps for Tennis and Warfare which DavidM doesn't want in the official DB release, they could be included in the TEN/DBW-specific zip files, so regular DB players don't have to download a gigantic file.

So, pretty please?

packaging tennis is fine with me, may even have a couple of new maps for you when finished, one with totally different gameplay..its fun.

speaking of mapping does anyone have a good texture of a city at night, top down? like the lights from the city or something..? :)

infact i may put this on the tennis site..

Well, I've seperated all the files into seperate zips, I just need to test them, and write some readme's, and upload them. Should be up within the week.
