Soooooooo confuuuuuuused

Post by InSaNe` »

Argh!!!

I'm so close to getting UT this is my situation. A couple of hours ago I remembered that I had UT2003 in my cousins' computer. So I thought; maybe I can transfer all the files from that computer to mine. I would burn all of the files on to a CD and them load them up on my computer. Then I would create the folders necessary (static meshes, system, sounds etc.) to play.

Once I burned all of the files on to a CD I then brought the CDs to my computer and began the long and hard process of transfering all the files from the disc to my folder. Once I did all of that I doubled click on UT and I recieved this message:

UT2003 Build UT2003_Build_[2003-04-07_17.42]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1534 MHz with 255MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 (4523)

Failed to enter Entry: Can't find file for package 'ParticleMeshes'

History: UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

I didn't restart my computer but I also think this isn't the cause of my UT not working. I also don't wanna submit the bug for the obvious reason. What else is there for me to do?

Besides run to the game store and buy the friggin game for 20 bux  \o/ ;)

Here is another alternative, don't publicy post your piracy attempts in public so you do not violate the rules of the forums and get yourself banned.

Well, I'd start with searching for that file and making sure its in the right place :)

Don't forget u'll need all static mesh, karma, sound, music? and texure files. And i think a couple of files from the map folder i think.

Like i said before, good luck with that :)

long as you got all the basic ut2k3 files, i guess installing bonus packs might help.

naughty though :/ (someone last night was asking me for a "spare" cd key :/)

If you still have your cd-key then just download ut2k3 somewhere :/

the directory wouldnt fit on a cd, its like 3 gig, anyway you'll need all your registry entries etc. Theres a cd key string in the registry too. Easier to go buy the damn thing, or download it, rent / buy a copy, take the KEY, and install the downloaded one with that key. (i dont condone this behaviour! buy the game)

I do not condone piracy in any way, but since you already own a copy of the game, I guess it's ok. I've borrowed ut install disks to use with my own valid cdkey before. Aside from not copying all the correct files, I'm assuming you've forgotten about the registry entries.

Why not just borrow/copy your cousin's install disks (or download like Rens said), and use them with your cdkey? Seems a whole load easier to me than fiddling about with file dependencies and registry keys.

UT2k3 is the slowest installing game in the universe. And Xill is quite right, there's no way it would fit onto one CD-R...

after i formatted my OS drive (C) , i still had the UT2k£ folder on another drive (H).

WHen i went to run it, it failed (Cant remeber the error msg) , so drifter exported the registry files for UT2k3 for me, i put my cdkey in and changed the paths, ran the reg file, and et viola ! it works

Lots of replies me likey \o/

I don't want to spend my money arrrrrrrrrrrgh

EDIT: I also don't understand that much shit about directories and shit like that. All I did was transfer all of the files from my cousins computer to mine. No installation or anything like that. I created the folders and stuck the files in their proper place. I'm sure I put everything in the right place. I think I'm missing that one file or something like that. I'll check it out right now; if I need the file would someone be nice and giv eit to me?

I don't know if it's illegal but who cares? I have the UT discs (only 2 of 'em doh >_<)but I'm only having some difficulties  \o/ :D
