Okay, this is a bit complicated.

They are a female line who hand down an ability to 'Mirror' the space-time continuum generation by generation, mother to daughter. That means that the state of the time line is reflected in the state of their bodies. Giggle travelled through time unnecessarily so much that the timeline was cracked in many places, and both Tilly's grandmother then her mother died. Tilly is now the new Mirror, which is why we need to keep her safe from Giggle.

I may sound like just a dumb cat, but I'd like to read your version of the story

I didn't say I understood her motivations. All I can say is that she had no other motivation to go messing around with the timeline, than to kill the Mirrors. Elsa believes we can't pass level one without one (I'm fairly sure she said!). It seems Giggle doesn't want us to leave. And I wouldn't underestimate her, whatever she says.
