What should [1234] do with their DB server?

When DB 2.0 is released, the UT2K3 server should become a UT2K4 server with map cycle - so I have half a chance of playing other maps other than Cube. I think this was the setup way back in 1.4-1.5 days. I see no point in a UT2K3 server in the future...I had to buy UT2K4 for DB and I think everyone else will in time too...

Ok, I think I know what we're gonna do with the servers.
One of our default 2004 servers will be setup to run DB2004 with map voting (just the default maps for now...) The current DB-Cube server will remain open untill it stops being worth while keeping, it will then be moved over to either a DB2004 Cube only server, or a DB2004 custom map only server depending on demand (and how good the custom maps are)
As soon as the Ut2004 patch is officially released and there is a DB beta that works with the patch (or release version, I'll setup the first [1234] DB 2004 server (unless something goes horrible wrong)
P.S. I'm open to suggestion on player numbers. Is 5 vs 5 still the standard?
P.P.S. If you see me playing on the servers then a) don't expect me to be good, and b) don't expect me to be the great keeper I used to be....I ain't played DB for well over 9 months...ish

yay but pleace remove smallcube from the map voting or it will be a smallcube-only server (like all the others :S) maybe cube and bowl too if you make the 2nd server a cube-only server1234Bedlam wrote: Ok, I think I know what we're gonna do with the servers.

either you make it cube+bowl (similiar to cube but wider) or you put maps like november/tribun/legofan into the map-rota, pleaceThe current DB-Cube server will remain open untill it stops being worth while keeping, it will then be moved over to either a DB2004 Cube only server, or a DB2004 custom map only server depending on demand (and how good the custom maps are)

5on5 is standard but 6on6 for cube/bowl is fine tooP.S. I'm open to suggestion on player numbers. Is 5 vs 5 still the standard?

gratz :p
6v6 is too spammy but I guess you'd want to pack them in on a public server.
I agree with Fed, a rotation sans smallcube would be great.
A custom only server would be nice as long as its not got a huge list of maps. The only problem is I don't know how many quality, good sized (i.e. not sc) maps there are.
Anyway, cheers for the servers. You're doing DB a great service.

We could use the UT2vote mutator and only allow small cube if there are only x amount of players on the server.
The only problem with that, is that we're using UT2Vote on our match server, and I can't see a way of separating the ../Systrem/UT2vote.ini from server to server (we use 1 install of UT2004 with multiple UT-{server}.ini files for each server - it makes for easy upgrading)
I've been out of the loop concerning DB, so I've no idea what custom maps are out there and which ones have the magic replayability factor. May have to get suggestions from Jr or Flak ...

*bumped from beyond*
[1234] now have 2 servers running DB 2.0, at the moment both servers are running an identical configuration. All [1234] servers are now running the UTAN ban list updater, reserved player slots (2 slots), and a chat filter (so don't swear or you'll loose points )
The reserved slots are for [1234] clan only, but some kind soul may allow your CDKey Hash through.
I'm thinking about using the Team Balance mutator, but there are various options to toy with. There is likey to be the possiblity of one keeper being swopped to the other team mid game leaving an open goal... however balence teams can be set only when someone requests it. So I'm not sure if we'll use it.
edit: muppet, I forgot the IPs
ut2004://195.157.35.92:7777 - DB Server I
ut2004://195.157.35.93:7777 - DB Server II

Random idea...
Just a thought, perhaps use the option of preventing the ball carrier from moving on one DB server, similar to netball.
By its very nature, it will enhance teamplay and get all those newcomers passing the ball around, rather than thinking that they can run though a wall of three defenders
