And in doing so, you give us the right to point and laugh mercilessly at you when you get hit by yet another ie/w32 exploit.

just to *bump* this up
I've got a lan this weekend, really need db working on my 2nd machine.

Anyone found a solution to this yet?

This really needs to be a priority for db 2.1 is there is no easy 2.0 fix.

Ahh, LAN parties, I miss those :(

I'm still unable to play DB too, tho not bothered trying again recently since there has been no news with either UT2004 patches or DB updates that seem to relate to the problem.

Might try and install UT2004 on my second box and see if DB works there. The configuration isn't a whole lot different but you never know ... :)

dont think this will help. it seems to be impossible to run db on linux since 2k4 :/

this should be fixed with 2.1 imho

Could somebody try these .u files in Linux?
*edit: never mind*

just tried them, not working sry. /o\

unzipped into /usr/local/games/ut2004/deathball/System
old Deathball_rc.u was overwritten
DeathballAI.u and Deathball.u (new) were *not* the same as deathballai.u and deathball.u (old). I deleted the old ones.

started (as regular user) with:
[james@balzac james]ut2004 -mod=Deathball
Failed to find object 'Class Deathball.04Sse/u24s

Exiting due to error
I also tried ut2004 -mod=deathball just incase, got the same error.

here's the ~/.ut2004/deathball/System/deathball.log

Where's my mojo?

Another one, compiled with different kind of directory tree (Apparently .u file header changed):

http://v4.livegate.net/makush/files/db-u2.zip

If that does not work then I'd try to delete all Deathball/System/*.ucl files and recreate deathball.ucc by calling ucc (But this is already a long shot....):

./ucc-bin exportcache -Mod=Deathball -v Deathball.u Deathball_rc.u DeathballAI.u Deathball.ucl

db-u2 files give same error as before sadly :/

the
ucc-bin exportcache -Mod=Deathball -v Deathball.u Deathball_rc.u DeathballAI.u Deathball.ucl
command , executed it in the ut2004/System dir fails with the error
"Only .u and .ut2 supported"

I also tried running it from the deathball/System dir using ../../System/ucc-bin etc...etc...
and it failed with the error "BadMod". (I swear ucc-bin isnt insulting db personally ;))

the effort for us few linux guys is much appreciated makush <3 :)

Unfortunately that error tells very little so this is just guessing....

Open up default.ini. I noticed that there are some bad class names:

Find texts "Deathball.DB_Deathball", it should be "Deathball.DB_DeathBall". (All of them should be renamed). In addition, "Deathball.DB_DeathballHUD" -> "Deathball.DB_DeathBallHUD". After the changes remove Deathball.ini and restart.

It's probably safer that the path to Deathball is ut2004/Deathball, not ut2004/deathball

well... i've copy the files from db-u2.zip.
there is a "deathball.u", in the zip is the name "Deathball.u". the DeathballAI.u seems to be new.
after making the changes in the default.ini, deleting the "Deathball.ini" and the old "deathball.u" i'm getting this
Failed to find object 'Class Deathball.20/ytmGIK.oiMs.o'

my path is "ut2004/Deathball" btw

3rd attempt - fixed more case problems:
http://v4.livegate.net/makush/files/db-u3.zip

Epic has no clue either, but it's for sure UT bug since some other mods are having the same problem....

agreed. Anomaly gives the same error.
I'll test later when I can get back to my linux box
