Are there any plans to tone down volley power? It seems to me that they are massively overpowered atm.

A typical powerful volley comes in at about 44 m/s and a typical full powered shot at about 33 m/s.

That's around 33% more powerful and I feel volleys should be toned down to at most 25% more powerful, perhaps even down to 20%.

This would put the most powerful volley at around 39 - 41 m/s rather than at 44 (over a time of 0.6+ seconds). Not a huge difference, but i feel that volleys are too powerful atm

But seriously, i agree, turn down the power on a volley...not much, just a bit.

hm, dunno if thats correct but someone said if you volley the ball, it will be at once catchable with full radius, but if you shoot you it has for 0.6 sec only the inner radius. if thats true, then this balances volley and shot already :S

David you touch volley and i'll send a banana cruise missle your way instead of at Iraq.

The only think that needs to be fixed in DB right now are bugs and n00b cannon. and maybe the turbo volleys, rocket vollies and sky hooks... once you figure out what those all are you'll want them fixed too... :P

Go keep in small cube and have someone in send some volleys at you from well outside the box. Then after that, have someone send some fully powered normal shots at you from the edge of the box. See if you can honestly tell yourself after that volleys arent way too fast atm.

they arnt, i play lots of volley only games on small cube and the keeps never cry "that shot was too fast *WAHHHHH*" because its ment to be challenging. Considering that you can dodge and have approx .3 seconds to react to any volley i'd say your chances arnt too bad currently. Any shot that goes in under .4 seconds is shit luck if you save it unless you have 0 ping.

I'm sorry surge, but i dont see why i should only have 0.4 seconds to react to one of your gimp volleys from almost the halfway line, it just doesnt plain make any sense that they are so much more powerful than a normal shot

In fact, all it does is hurt teamplay by making it better for ppl to be the hero and put it up for a volley for themselves. You can go wah wah get better defense all you want (typical volley whore response), but deathball should be encouraging passing around for normal shots not overpowered gimp volleys off the walls.

Here's the difference my proposed changes would make:

All over a volley of 22 metres @ 44 m/s (about halfway from the centre line to the outside of the penalty box in small cube)

currently (2000 pwr) - 44 m/s, time - 0.500 seconds
Volley power 1900 - 41.8 m/s, time - 0.526 seconds
Volley power 1800 - 39.6 m/s, time - 0.556 seconds
Fully powered normal shot - 34 m/s, time - 0.647 seconds


Same volley but not hit as well, 22 metres @ 40 m/s

2000 power - 40 m/s, time - 0.550 seconds
1900 power - 38 m/s, time - 0.579 seconds
1800 power - 36 m/s, time - 0.611 seconds

Before you make any more comments, have a look at the times. Its only a small difference, but one that needs to be made.

Surge...stop thinking about your own 1337-p0wnage-hero game, and start thinking about the good of the whole deathball community...please.

As it is, a volley has advantages over a normal shot, there's no charge-up time, and there is no chance of overpowering...admittedly it is a little harder to aim, but not that much.

And before you start...i am not a keeper, and i can volley, i am just fed up of being in a great position in attack, when some lame-ass just shoots off the back wall, and 5 people jump up 4 the volley, and the ball usually goes out of the playing field.
