well in game world the grass and walls and everything acts like ist a marble floor and the ball is marble too. so it'll roll like its got nothing slowing it down and bounce like its hitting solid rock rather then grass. its to be expected. a lil more down force onit so it doesnt bounce as high would be nice.
It would be impossible to adapt the ball's physics to all the different floor(s) (textures ) possible in DB maps.
Hence a static and flat, concrete ground as a base like a marble floor (although a bit exaggerated) would work better than trying to make it feel like it's rolling and bouncing on grass ;p
I agree it probably needs to be downtuned regardless, but they've probably figured that out theirselves

shouldn't be. textures have materials (or something) on them (these affect the footstep sounds. that's how they get grass textures to sound like grass when you walk on them)
