david, i think he meant higher concentration as in more overall people in the US that play db than individual countries in Europe. this is understandable because there are alot more people in the US and the US covers a considerably larger area than each individual European country does.
edit: you guys might want to put what positions you play
i play offense mainly but can do defense as well and if really desperate i am an ok goalie

Germany and England are far far ahead
I just went through all the leagues and counted all of the german, english, and american players (yes, that's right, you don't want to know how far I'm willing to go to prove DavidM wrong :p ) and here's what i got:
Germany - 134
UK - 112
USA - 167

its was about the concentration...
the USA is about 20 times the size of Germany (geo), or maybe more
so having a higher concentration than germany would required over 15,000 players
