Not quite...some1 came up with a lame idea for a shot-clock

a shot clock helps game play, your prolly another lamer that kills time to win. Go back to n00b land if you pull that shit, its just not fun. The entire intention for DB is fun. Watching some team pass a ball back and forth isnt fun. It is a total waste of time. So is making unlocked passes slower. It makes games lower scoring and easier for the keeper as far as quick shots go. I dont know about you but as an offensive player i like to score. We all do. Removing or nerfing yet another aspect of offensive play makes it almost pointless to play offense anymore. All teams will do is sit at midfield and trade possession back and forth (just like in soccer) and get the occasional break at the net. That IMO is just lame because this isnt soccer. Its deathball.. There are not 12 players, its not played on an very large field and you sure cant shoot a really hard shot accuratly win a fraction of a second. This isnt Soccer, we need to improve gameplay and this is the only way it seems to be able to fix... Prove me wrong, i dare you.

Just read the many posts in that thread to see how bad an idea that is...

actually hermit... the arguements against surges idea of the shot clock were weak at best, most "we don't need", but there weren't very strong arguements against why a team should not be able to get the ball past mid in 1 30 seconds or for why a player shouldn't have to get rid of the ball after holding it for 1 mins (both are things that don't affect the game unless ppl are being stupid)

one thing about this game is that since score is sometimes so easy (especially in older versons) scoring a goal doesn't feel as special anymore, i wasn't really a shooter until about a month ago but even in that amout of time i feel like it goes in great it doesn't well i fucked up but there is no real thrill of it for me (there is some but nothing like in soccer) you don't have the adrenaline pumping through your viens like you do in soccer. this is probable what surge is talking about. though i do find it ironic that back in the day surge said something to the effect that score with the reg shot was too easy so he became a volley whore. well davidm fixed shooting being too easy ;)

And the arguments for it were strong? I don't think so! :D
If you can't intercept a pass or break a play or bust a move (whatever you want to call it) then practice, it's not hard. ;)

hermit it can be abbused, it takes skill but if rush had played the way that surge was talking about then rush could have easly had the ball 70 % to possibly 75% of the time, which isn't really fun. that is the arguement for it, also when there is a little in the way of arguement against and a decent arguement for then you should go for it cuz heck what harm can it do?

hermit, you are form the UK. We are from NA. We both have different play styles and both approach the game of DB differently. When i see DB i see Hockey and Basketball, you see Football/Soccer. In compairison it is more the hockey and basketball simply by the player count and the ability to knock people the fuck out (in hockey anyway). I dont want to play some slow ass running, chase that shit game like soccer is. Thats why soccers not big here, its too slow, takes far too long to play, and theres not enough action. The only fun in soccer is schoolyard soccer which is played on a small field with smaller nets (usually) and there are no gay free kick/penelty shot BS. Its like 1/2 contact soccer and in the winter when we get like 3 inches of snow its all out full contact anything goes untill something breaks.
Our scores went up to about 10-12 on average and it was fucking fun because we didnt care if you were good or bad because you just played and had fun watching your team score and all the shots taken. its fast paced, constant fun. This is not deathball.. the way deathball is turning out is becoming a slow, boring sport with little to no constant pace other than slow. Thats why Small cube volley only is so damn fun when a few players that can volley and a few good keepers start playing. Its that simple.

you haven't lived till you've witnessed two teams scrape out a 0-0 draw. :p

but seriously, deathball is made by europeans, so what do you expect?

should they pace it like american sports, which hardly anyone in the world outside the good ol' USA enjoys or to a pace more like football which the whole world, bar north america, is absolutlely fanatical about?

I happen to hate most ball games, except basketball, but I can tell that Deathball is not meant to be like any particular one of them and has it's own rules and playing style(s). Certainly I've not seen a map that plays like a basketball game yet, and due to the nature of the 'throw' in Deathball it seems we never will. I don't go on complaining that the rules aren't enough like basketball because that's not what it's supposed to be, just like it's not supposed to be any type of football, rugby, hockey or other ball game, it's Deathball.
You want a fast, high scoring game then use volley only. You want a more tactical game then play it properly! ;)

Hermit thats what i'v been saying since DavidM started adding all this crap to the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hes making Deathball into football/soccer with kill zones, can't you people see that?!?!!? It was compained to FIFA when sprint was added for a reason. Hes taken out dribbling so it moves at a more even pace (like soccer), he made curve shots like putting spin when you kick a soccer ball, In the sound pack that was created for deathball it even threatened out of bounds and offsides!

1.3b was deathball and didnt need to be changed, 1.4b was a more realistic deathball, a nice change but not necessary and still buggy, 1.5 till now have been Deathball/FIFA hybrids and by this current trend i can only assume it will become more and more like soccer each and every patch from here on in.

you're obviously speaking from a position of ignorance, football is in no way evenly paced. it can be an extremely frenetic sport as well as a slow paced thinking one, just like db.

db does not force a pace on you. either you have the upper hand, in which case you can dictate the speed or your opponents have and they rightly control the pace.

also, you seem to be somewhat confused when it comes to sprint, a device that greatly increases the speed of attack and yet you are opposed to it.

so please get your thoughts in order before posting another of your rants.

i will agree that i find it completely illogical to have taken out dribbling.
it was simply a way to buy yourself some time. and now that everyone is a fuckin boost maniac, i need dribbling even more while i wait for all the tards to stop boosting and get open so i can pass.

although i do find it fun just to let myself get killed when ppl are to busy boosting to help me.
they usually wake the hell up to their stupidity.

The_One deathball does move at a set pace, as does football... with dribbling the ball carrier could move 3 speeds.. full speed for breakaways and such, slower speed for passing around and thinking about what to do and walking which was taken out to use sprint... i actually used walk a lot on offense because sometimes the defender would run beside you while you were dribling and you could just stop, throw on the walk and they'd run right past you a lot, then you start dribbling again... it would usually get you a nice lead on the defender if he runs back to wack you. With sprint and the loss of dribble its been made even MORE a paced game because of 2 very obvious reasons. #1 sprint is very limited (unlike dribbling) and #2 many long passes were killed with the huge hammer that came in the same patch. Theres no steal the ball then get a break away anymore because you dont stand a chance again the defender outrunning him. This also attributes to why people pbox camp because if they do get the ball stolen they can just turn and kill the guy within a second or 2. The removal of dribbling and addition has changed deathball to be a WAY WAY more paced game.
