Indeed. xD
I think my internet was just dodgy actually, shortly after I posted that it said the same for Wikipedia. Yet I posted that...

On a side note, "goth" was an era in time, and is NOT a legitimate means of describing people.

lol yeah..those comments are stupid :D

Romanticism is pretty cool actually
18th century? ..not sure :p

It spawned gothic literature, architecture and other arts :o but I don't see why that means people can't wear clothing and make-up in styles that look like the ones in that era.

it is, but it has nothing to do with the goths, or gothic architecture etc..., so it's just horribly named.

You don't see the relevance between goths and people like Goethe ('Die Leiden des jungen Werthers' is so goth ;)), William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Edgar Allen Poe?

I must say I don't know a lot about romantic paintings and such..but I can clearly see the relevance in literature :)
..I guess through Romanticism 'goth' came to mean anything dark and gloomy, but I can definitely see the direct links going to what has now become the gothic subculture.

But yeah, you're not going to spot girls with long black hair and corpsepaint cutting themselves in gothic paintings.
But if that's the only way you're looking at it  I agree you might conclude the two have nothing to do with eachother :)
