It's a given that the old and new testaments will in a lot of points contradict eachother.
That's no problem since the old testament is only a basis for the new testament, thereby creating the fundament of Christianity out of Judaism.

Even in the new testament itself you'll find many contradictions I suppose, regardless of many attempts to censor, explain or overrule them by both the Catholic and Orthodox churches (and to a lesser extent the protestant churches).

If it had better mentioning of names and gives more elaboration on who the hell it's talking about more often, it would have been brought yonkees ago.

Ya, I bought it because imo: if I want to know about the western world, the bible is pretty important
