How to kill Pbox Camping in 1.7

Bodom I take it you aren't a sweeper. If you were you'd know just how difficult it would be without you being able to hear the powerup sound. Especially when there are 2 attackers and only you to hold them back from shooting. You just need to come up with another way to score than to remove about the only fair chance the sweeper really has to stop you from scoring every time.

charge sound + bigger hit raduis+instagibinpbox+4pplinbox=HUGE defensive advantage and you dont even have to be a praticularly good defender to use it and beat all but the very best of the shooters and still you will beat them a lot of the time.... i don't think you want a game where only the best of the best can score even against medicore D... sounds like no fun to me... so don't complain defenders there used to be plenty of great defenders b4 pbox camping and there will be plenty afterwards... you just have to work for it this time (though i will admit some players are much better D than others..coughcoughdistrubedpwnscoughcough)
btw a 2 v 1 only an increadable defender should stand a chance against a decent O
the only problem i for see with this is that boosting will have to be lowered just a little bit for your own teamates so that geting two on ones isn't too easy....but then again i don't really see this as being a problem

Jinxed, if you assume I'm not a sweeper then I'm going to assume you didn't play deathball before the charge sound was added. Although I play offense mainly, I have played deep D or sweeper from 1.3 to now, and it's never been that hard, with or without the sound.
Right now the sound puts a glass ceiling on defensive skill. With pbox camping, a mediocre defender can be just as good as an amazing one. What should seperate defensive players is not a sound card, but their ability to read the enemy offense. Back in 1.3-1.4, the ability to read a play and the motions of an offensive player was a much more abundant skill than it is now. Currently, all you have to do is listen and click, which isn't hard at all.
The fact that the offense can score a ton of goals in a game doesn't mean that shooting shouldn't be enhanced. This isn't about quantity, it's about quality. Any team can do a million boost plays or volley shots, and they eventually get boring and people lose interest in the game which is very apparent now in the NA divisions. Shooting keeps the game fresh; nothing beats the rush of putting a ball at just the right angle at just the right spot in the net.
Removing the sound changes the way defense is played. However, the change is for the better, because more skill will be required to be a truly great defender. The player's attention will change from audio to visual focus, which is how it should be in a video game.

There are ways to get around this in a league match or scrim. If the keeper can hear it, why not just get the team on TS and relay the msg the striker is going to shoot and make it like a reaction for the defender to listen for a key word. It's a good idea, but better for clans that can overcome this obstacle, like me idea.

DavidM, whether you'd like to admit it or not, Deathball is dying, especially in the North American community. Do you know why? It's because you don't give a shit about what we like or dislike with the game, you always dismiss our complaints, even if we have a valid gripe. I rarely play DB anymore, and the same can be said about most of the NA teams, I went into the server browser last night, it had 39 DB servers and 15 players... WTF. We have always had complaints and suggestions to fix or improve the gameplay, and nearly always you have dismissed us, and rarely do you even acknowledge or try to properly defend or prove your position on why your way is best.
I agree with most of the people here, shooting is dead, all I ever see anymore are cheap boost goals and volleys all over the place, while thise may work perfectly for your team's playing style, very few other people like it, you say adapt to these changes. Well, we say why the hell should we have to change, deathball peaked at 1.3b, since then you have disregarded the NA community entirely, our complaints and suggestions have been almost completely ignored, we bring up a gripe and you shoot it down without valid reasons. I am sick of it, we are sick of it. You are killing DB and I hope you are happy...
Screw you DavidM.
