If the defense is slack and we have a man up their half, why should I waste my time charging pass to him?

heh interesting to see the responses. yeah, i guess it would be unworkable since primary fire passing would take too long.

but what i don't like about the current system is that its too easy to clear a ball to a guy hanging on the other side of the pitch.

Of course there should be a guy defending against a goal hanger, I know, but the point is that more often than not, the attacking team lose the initiative by something that is effectively a skill-less move.

imo, the defending team need to earn the right to pass a ball all the way upfield by taking a little more time to pull it off.

i realise it's probably an unpopular idea...

Maybe it could be made so the crosshair had to be right over them for a succesful long distance pass to be made.

yeah that would be fairer i think.

Armagon: I suggest loads of really stupid ideas all the time and some good ones too.. I'd only be upset if I stopped having ideas altogether :D

Anyway, how bout making passes possible always, but make them not so surgically precise after a semi-long range has eben exceeded.

So when u've gotten rid of the banana passes...u can reimplement them for that ;)

gg davidm's new nightmare

i think alt-fire passes should remain 'surgically precise' but as The_One says, should require a bit more aim to pass to people further away.

What if the further the pass was, the less accurate it was? 20 yard passes would be perfect, but hucking it down the field would be less precise.

it would really suck if as an attacker u managed to get a little space on a defender as you run towards the goal, then you call for a pass only to see it go straight to the defender because of a 'random inaccuracy factor over a long range'.

sorry, but right-click passes NEED to be precise.

To restate my point from the beginning. What sucks with the current system is that I can lock onto someone miles away without even needing to look at them and clear the ball immediately.

At least have it so far away targets have to be aimed at to lock on to them.
