i don't like that cuz it would make it impossible to get off a last ditch pass, plus that seems like it would be taking a little skill out of passing

It all depends on the guy with the ball. Personally I don't pass unless someone is cutting to the goal, or if there is an odd man rush upfield, or if I am pressured. I'll run the ball halfway up the field. And like many others I don't pay attention to ppl using right click "Pass, I'm open!" If someone's open i'll get teh ball to them, but usually people use this when they only think they are open.
"the pass me button is for bots" <- true
If you are talking about clan matches then TS might work, or just sit down and talk to your teammates about when u want the ball and when u don't. RusH has played together so long, we know what everyone's going to do, so maybe more scrims r in order. Those r my suggestions for clan matches. For pubs, you can just pray that the ballcarrier is smart enough to get u the ball when u want it. More buttons won't really help anything.
TS doesnt work, because it isn't real time
the delay kills, our clan found that out the hard way

Well there is a negative and positive to this idea..
The good thing is that newbs can learn how to play the game and when to pass or not. This would grow the community like it did in 1.4b.
The bad side.. What if you were accidently holding the button without realizing it? Then the person with the ball wouldn't be able to pass and he'd be in a jam.
So it's up to DavidM (oh my what a surprise). It could also be server optional. On VO maps newbs would learn when to pass and for the seniors, they can turn it off during a pickup match or a scrim/league match.

Takes control away from the ballcarrier tho. He should be able to pass when/where he wants to always. He has the gun with the ball.
