i'm one of these "noobs" that started playign the game when everyone said "the mod is dead" (how frustrating is that.. i wanted to leave when i heard that.. why bother investing hours ina mod thats about to die..)

but lucky for me the mod is far from dying as far as i'm concerned... the people at ufo recruited me and introduced me to scrims and pugs.. and since then we play at least a scrim a night, and easily 2-3 pugs a day.

i never knew the "golden age of db" but as far as im concerned.. anytime im home at night.. i can play db in a fun environment (pug/scrim) or even a harsh environment (public).

my recommendation is.. every clan should follow ufo's example.. go out there and start recruiting noobs from the public servers. this is the only way for the community to expand. (cuz communtiy = pugger community.. not public - who are not organized)

the dba was good in concept but there was little motivation to make it work (and i don;t blame anyone.. there's so much else to do..) but if clans started recruiting noobs.. they WILL put in the effort to train those guys and make them stick to the mod.

I think there needs to be a bit more co-operation between NA and euro teams - it's no good having the community constantly fighting over that all the time.

And DB is far from dead - as far as I'm concerned DB's at it's best version since it was released, and the community around the "golden age" is idealised - it's as active as it ever was, people've just moved from pub servers to pickup/league games. #dbpickup keeps reaching new highs on the amount of people in there, so as far as I'm concerned (and as I said before), DB is far from dead. Perhaps we need a little more new blood but there are still more people joining the community - if I thought it was going to die soon then I'd quit now, but I don't. And all the people who say otherwise are wrong

i totaly agree with pri and cata but what we need is not to really recuit new members into the big clans we need to get the smaller sclans built up and get new clans in to play. Everyday i see more and more new people on the public servers and i have seen more people having fun rather than the "YOU SUCK" attitudes playing. maybe posibly have like a public forum or page for people to go request to be in a clan or if people in the na would use the clan forum for new members thet would be cool...(nothing wrong with this forum just most NA players don`t like to post here). i am just trying to think of any and every whay i can to get this mod more open than what it ever was

problem with all noob clan is there's no one else to play with but REALLY godo clans that laugh at your every mistakes..

ppl get discouraged fast.

but breakign up the big clans into 2 squads and each squad recruiting 1-2 noobs.. thats already a big contribution (double the clans)

MAYBE the dbl shoudl offer incentives for clans to do that (offer ringer possibilities between the 2 squads if those squads have trainee members...)

cuz in order for this sorta thing to happen..there will have to be incentives (why the dba keeps failing.. no incentive)

Prii, reason dba failed is simple. It's already hard to get your 5 starters for a match. When you do dba training, it's even harder to get the teachers and the new players together at a time correct for everyone. And the organisation is quite bothersome... (new players dont use irc or instant messanger, and might be hard to contact by email).

For dba NA, I tried to mail to everyone in the dba and the reply rate was like 50% or even less

For new clans, in NA it's quite hard

. I'm thinking of S2. In dbl div 3 they would do fine, but in NA, the clans are all equivalent to div2 or div1 clans if they would play in euro... So it's normal the team get bashed

and they lose their moral, have clan dispute and quit db

it is damn hard to compet with a clan that has been around since 1.4b and most players have been playing for that long as well.

cata I am going to have to give my prospective about the "Golden Age" maybe it was just me being a n00b to NA db but it seems to me that the age of the "ballers" clan was truely the best time for db becuase we had strong leader clans that cared about the game and generally kept ppl in line... until v3 came along L7 joined with them and all that shit went down. imo that was the end of the "golden age" becuase the structure the community had was gone and nothing really has returned to replace it. plus we were all worse and figuring out knew stuff was kewl

bullet will you stfu jesus im not defending anyone but shit he is forum mod and he does have the right. i don`t care about what happend between you or linux because i know you will bring that up. look you said yourself you quit db so go on and play swg and quit commenting on how things are run here. its comments like your that we really don`t need NA or Euro. Plus im gonna talk to bazzi about you being removed from the council because we don`t need your attitude running the NA nor do we want a non DB player making decisions on our matches so just go play swg and drop this

By saying this (rather..harsh comment isn't it?) it doesn't help the community. It just one person (Bullet) hate another (dev). There is no need for that, we need a higher tolerance level. Even though most people have lots of pride in themselves, jeez take some criticism.

Another thing, banning Bullet made you feel good huh? Wait 'till a newb comes here interested in DB sees that the leader of this game likes banning people because he can't take an insult. By saying the things you are, doesn't help anyone so I think if you ain't got anything nice to say.. Shut it.

I also voted for "nope hope ...going down" because after reading all the posts in this thread it has lead to the conclusion that the community can't get along with each other, can't respect anothers opinion, and its leader can't take shit from no one.
