I stopped in a small town determined to have my hair cut (I was on a long journey and hadn't been to a civilised place in a long time). In this town there were two barbers, each lived on opposite sides of the same street. I looked through the window of the first barber shop and saw a disgustingly messy establishment. The barber stood wearing shabby clothes and his face was dirty and his hair was messy and sticking up in all directions. I then crossed the road to look into the other barber shop. This was the complete opposite of the first, the floors were sparkling and the barber was neatly dressed with a clean face and perfectly flat hair.
I then crosed back over the road and got my hair cut in the dirty barber shop, why?

The clean one was closed?

Because there must be a reason why the clean guy had so much time to care for himself instead of customers ...

wait.. no, everyone knows a barber doesn't cut his own hair.

The dirty barber had gone to the clean barber to get his hair cut.. and vice versa.

The dirty barbers hair wasn't as neatly cut as the clean barbers. So you knew the dirty barber was a better barber than the clean one

They were both open and the amount of time that he spent cleaning himself has no effect
