He can burn his piece of paper (before reading it, of course!) instead of eating it.

Hmmm if I were an evil King I would have had him carted away before he could ask for the other piece...

edit: burning would be better as the King could make him vomit it back up...

He could let the princess read the other piece!

Fred and Bob were on vacation and driving along a deserted country road from the town of Patsville to the town of Lynnsville. They came to a multiple fork in the road. The sign post had been knocked down and they were faced with choosing one of five different directions. Since they had left their map at the last petrol station and there was no one around to ask, how could Fred and Bob find their way to Lynnsville?

The sign post might have been knocked down, but you didn't not say it's completely shattered. So it should still show where the leftmost arrow leads to, where the second left arrow leads to, where the middle arrow leads to etc.
So the two should be able to assign each arrow to a way, according to the sequence.

Another possibility is, go back to the petrol station and fetch another map.

Kind of what Kisa said but they can align the Patsville on the signpost up with th eroad they just drove down and follow the way to Lynnsville!

There are 2 policemen parked along a one-way street looking for traffic violations. They spot a taxi driver going in the wrong direction, yet they do nothing.
Why?

It's the driver, not the taxi! No car, no oneway violation!

Correct.

What is put on a table and cut, but never eaten?

Guess I'm missing one possible usage for "cut" here ...

Why do you cut a deck of cards?

It means move the top half down to the bottom half after shuffling. It's done I think to act as a double check so that it is not just one person shuffling and dealing (another player cuts than that who shuffled).
