you've got the day and the time (and the exact date while we're at it.) so what time did his watch read? Figuring this out made my head hurt a little

I think I've got it, but am scared to check it, in case I get mixed up again.
The time is 2.00 am exactly LST which is 3.00 am LDT.
If the watch has been changed to LDT, it is 4h fast (shows
7 o'clock LDT)
If the watch is still on LST, it is 7h slow (shows 7 o'clock LST)
This only works if the watch is a 12-hour one.

no seriously, you're right.
if his watch was four hours fast the time on his watch is past the jump which makes it 3+4 = 7
if it was slow it was before the jump which timewise makes it 2-7 = 7
