Two general hints the can be used on any level are:
1. You should always take notes on HOW you passed all the previous levels. Sometimes you can use the same logic (or some modification of it).
2. Always try the simple things before going for complex maneuvering.

I actually solved it in first chance, but did not knew that it was true level 23, so kept wandering here and there as level 23 is odd in color than previous levels.

The same happened to me. I wrote in my notes for level 22: "How stupid am I? I found the solution yesterday but did not realize it until today." Wasted a whole day!
