You did that too, remember ;]
Anyway, maybe you are right.
I think I'm with the group of op's who aren't 'hard' enough against violators. I could act more strict, but I personally want to keep the channel nice.. with people with nice attitudes towards eachother.
Ofcourse, that ain't happening, but that's not a #dbpickup channel problem, it's more a problem of the people playing this mod. Whining, biasing and moaning are all so recognizable for the Deathball community.
I don't want to blame others, and I do know I have done or sometimes maybe do it myself as well without knowing it, but when I look to other communities, for example the CTF one (not instagib, please :) just plain CTF) ofcourse there are some moaners, ofcourse there's bias, but still, people know where to stop, and when they don't stop, they get flamed by all others and do stop (majority rules <3)
I mean, ofcourse, people have diffrent opinions, and they should discuss with eachother, long live the free word (well, sometimes.. err, nevermind, that's another story..)

Anyway, I'll try to follow the rules stricter, if that's what you guys want from op's, but David, I can't just go ban on the opinion of one guy (I'm talking about the time you pm'd me with the question if I could ban someone because he didn't join the pickup or something.. not sure anymore has been a while ago.)
I will always check with others who played in that pickup, it's not like I don't trust anybody on his/her word, but I just want to make sure. I know you got angry because it took to long and you didn't like the bantime, too short you said.
Later, the specific player pm'd me with the announcement his PC crashed and that was the reason he couldn'd join the pickup, this was after like 20 minutes after the ban request came, I checked his quitmessage and it seemed to be a crash indeed. Ofcourse, you can never know for sure, but when this happens once or maybe twice in like 6 months, it's not his fault.
Tho, I've seen a guy (won't name people here) looking for a substitute or 'crashing' every time he didn't like the team he was on. I warned, and later banned him for that. The ban had been removed before it actually should have been, but that's not my fault. I guess we (as operators) should think something out to prevent that.
What-so-ever; In my opinion, people shouldn't fight their personal vetes out in a public channel, and ofcourse not ban people because of it.
I'll be somewhat more strict myself, as that's probably what you want from me.. (ain't it?)
And otherwise, post it :)

what i said above...about being useless to people with concerns, like 95% of all ops.....since they just dont care.
i've got nothing against you, but then dont please be op if you dont want to MANAGE the channel.

I do care and I do want to manage the channel. I'd like you to read my long post, and if you already have, tell me what you think, I should do.

Or a reason to leave them both out, saves further conflict and an easy meeting, no ? :p

Atm theres to many op's. Less op's i think would be better (ones that are fairly active).

Most ops atm seem fine, besides afflictor, holy and feediko. Cata i think you should at least listen to the community as a whole maybe a whole new set of ops?

WoooooooooooW.
This is getting a little heated I see :)

I do agree that a lot of the ops in the channel don't really serve a purpose, but I also believe that a few of them do do their jobs successfully.

We definitely need about 3 ops, no more really since the general idea of them being useless will kick in, the beauty of having about 3 is that one guy can be in charge, and if any of the other two guys are adjuged to have done something wrong, it can be taken to him.

I also think that the scripts should be disabled, like fees for instance, banned me and a couple of other people needlessly a number of times, and since hes not there you cant have it reversed.

The three people should be active, and trusted within the community, only if the ops command respect will it be given to them really.

Again as always the situation could have been handled a LOT better lol, and by this im referring to the main site post, what is a new guy gonna think who comes along with the initiative to download db and get involved in the community "fuck that".

At the end of the day, if people deserve to be banned they should be, it shouldnt be personal, the rules are clear enough and they should just be followed.

And fao of the people who say they just want to help the db community as a whole, please leave all the fucking personal attacks out of it, theres no need for it, and its certainly not going to help any of you strengthen your cause.

DB's weak point has always been and unless big things change, will continue to be the relationships both within the community and between the community and team vortex.

The newspost is just saying that the players of our game don't deserve such shabby treatment.

Blaat

"I'll try to follow the rules stricter, if that's what you guys want from op's"

please not, the rules are stupid shit, not well thought out. well as stupid as people who keep spamming the rules when you break one (thats not bothering anyone). Rather use your brain and do logic decisions.

Otherwise what you say sounds good. But you are just not available enough, and so shouldn't be op.

I think there should be three active op's who care, and who don't follow the stupid rules, but make sane decisions.

Atm we have all clanmates of cata and goldy being op + a few other "nice guys"... how useful!

ps: I want voice! annoying when im not able to talk during the team chosing procedure....

I think this has gone too far, it all started by a personal affair. Now its all about the ops in general?..

Yes the majortiy of the ops dont do their jobs right, because they didnt receive it from helping the chan in any sort of way but they got from a ¨friend¨.

Ops cant sort all the deathball problems in general. Some randome comes from a pub to the dbpickup channel just to say he got banned from a server... what do u want us to do? we dont have admin....

My case is the same as others, i ASKED for ops yes... that was a long time ago.It was mostly just to look ¨cool¨ but i did the job right.Players pmed to help them in any way possible, even asked for the log b4 banning. But still the ban will be removed b4 the expiring date.
AS you see im not taking any sides in this ¨war¨.But im concerned about the #dbpickup of tomorow.

Everyone knows dbpickup is like the ¨official¨ deathball channel(its not i know), so if u decide to make huge changes/even moving. It won't only kill the channel but deathball imo..

Sorry my inglisch sucks. (wanted to write this reply in french :p)

Anyway cya

1st; I might be wrong, but I think I'm more often in the channel than you are.

2nd; I can't spend every single minute of my life on the channel. I'm available as much as possible, and that's alot atm.

PS/Edit:

I already were op before I joined TEZC, before I even actually talked about other stuff then DB with these guys.
