You did that too, remember ;]DavidM wrote: Too much hassle with people who request bans for others.
Anyway, maybe you are right.
I think I'm with the group of op's who aren't 'hard' enough against violators. I could act more strict, but I personally want to keep the channel nice.. with people with nice attitudes towards eachother.
Ofcourse, that ain't happening, but that's not a #dbpickup channel problem, it's more a problem of the people playing this mod. Whining, biasing and moaning are all so recognizable for the Deathball community.
I don't want to blame others, and I do know I have done or sometimes maybe do it myself as well without knowing it, but when I look to other communities, for example the CTF one (not instagib, please

I mean, ofcourse, people have diffrent opinions, and they should discuss with eachother, long live the free word (well, sometimes.. err, nevermind, that's another story..)
Anyway, I'll try to follow the rules stricter, if that's what you guys want from op's, but David, I can't just go ban on the opinion of one guy (I'm talking about the time you pm'd me with the question if I could ban someone because he didn't join the pickup or something.. not sure anymore has been a while ago.)
I will always check with others who played in that pickup, it's not like I don't trust anybody on his/her word, but I just want to make sure. I know you got angry because it took to long and you didn't like the bantime, too short you said.
Later, the specific player pm'd me with the announcement his PC crashed and that was the reason he couldn'd join the pickup, this was after like 20 minutes after the ban request came, I checked his quitmessage and it seemed to be a crash indeed. Ofcourse, you can never know for sure, but when this happens once or maybe twice in like 6 months, it's not his fault.
Tho, I've seen a guy (won't name people here) looking for a substitute or 'crashing' every time he didn't like the team he was on. I warned, and later banned him for that. The ban had been removed before it actually should have been, but that's not my fault. I guess we (as operators) should think something out to prevent that.
What-so-ever; In my opinion, people shouldn't fight their personal vetes out in a public channel, and ofcourse not ban people because of it.
I'll be somewhat more strict myself, as that's probably what you want from me.. (ain't it?)
And otherwise, post it
