The reason IOS won is because it's done on the hal life engine and euros tend to have slower computers. That's why so many euros play quake and very old games. Plus the fan voting is really a joke, everyone just posts everywhere to go vote for them here. You get enough people voting, you win. It's stuffing the ballot box really. Plus the game is soccer and the world loves soccer. The game looks like crap but that's because it's Half Life engine.

once again, animations, textures etc are part of the art, which can only be blamed on the people.
sure, you are limited by the engine in some things, but that's basically only with the polycount. the stadium geometrics can be forgiven, low texture resolutions as well, but not the animations, the gameplay etc.

Do me the favour and stop saying "good engine = good looking game"
too many game magazines already spread this shit, it hurts when you read it

i always thought a 'good engine' was one that was easy to develop for AND was capable of good graphics over a variety of system specs.

Of course gameplay and animations are down to the developers, but the quality of the engine will determine the managabiltiy of development.

is that wrong?

stop saying that ios won because more people play half life

RO beat ios so that must show that more people play unreal2k4

THINK MOTHER FUCKERS

more people play half-life than ut2k4. fact.

thus we can assume that more people have played/tried/had access to IOS than DB.

we can also assume that more people have played/tried/had access to IOS than RO.

The fact RO beat IOS, shows how well RO was received. All credit to it.

The fact IOS beat DB shows that DB was not as well received as RO.

That doesn't change the fact, that more people have played/tried/had access to IOS than DB.

The only comparison that can be made is between RO and DB.

The assumption that IOS won because more people play Half Life than ut2k4 is neither invalidated nor validated.

THINK MOTHER FUCKER.

not necessarily...

I'm sure most HL players hate IOS and like RO. But it's also a fact that IOS has more players than DB.
I mean, RO got best mod award, but the next places go to HL mods, it's almost as there are no other games to mod :D

Oh how I only wish we had the modern technology and infinite wealth and resources the Americans have :(

Let's all salute our favourite eagle and sing the national anthem.

What..? 'What national anthem'? What do you mean what national anthem? There is only one country, son!

Messy and speedy. Euro gamers tend to have slower computers than people in the U.S. That's all I said. Euro gamers tend to play older games because they tend to have slower computers can't run the newest games at playable framerates. That's what I mean and what I said. The rest of what you said are your implications, not mine.
Good job jumping to conclusions.

Aren't there 2 channels on IRC where mixers are played. A predominantly Euro channel and a predominantly North American channel? You ask everyone to list their system specs and I will ask everyone to list their system specs in the North American channel and you will see that Euros gamers tend to have slower computers.

There is no reason to assume euros have slower computers, or that they play quake.

You present this stuff as facts while it's blatantly obvious one can only find one such conclusion through an extremely narrow-minded (possibly highly patriotic) frame of reasoning :x

...good job jumping to conclusions lad ;)

overon, i don't find that to be true.

on another subject related to PC's, many companies have already decided to only sell games in DVD versions across Europe and not US, since europeans own DVD players more frequently than americans.

Also, It's not really true that many europeans have slower pc's, and thats y they play older games.

For instance, i have a 9800XT 256MB on a P4 3Ghz with 1GB RAM, and i still play Counter-Strike and Unreal Tournament :)

right overon. so if we aren't located in america, our parts will run slower than they will in america?
