Most of what makes people love former versions are just great memories :p (of an active community, for example )

yes......
memories of other things linked to the version you played at that time. thats what makes people believe an older version was good.
but we DID try playing 1.4, 1.9 etc again now...and all agreed that it's just lacking compared to the newest one.

Weisso wrote: deathball is already nearly done. the community implosion over an early beta, combined with a lack of respect towards new players, a lack of playing public games in order to help new players, and an overabundance of offensive players unwilling to try out new positions have combined to more or less put the nail in the coffin for deathball. whether or not it can be saved will be up to the community to fix these things.

Amen Wesso Amen :p It seems so easy for some to be rude and unkind to new players. They are the ones who will kill the game and cry the most because they have no one to put down anymore. Sad but true. I have tried to tell as many as I can about Deathball and how much fun it is. They come and either no one is playing or they are told how crappy they are. They don't come back,:hmmmz: wonder why? Don't get me wrong there are some good guys out there that do care and want to help new guys.(Bless you guys) And of course you have the ones who tell you how to play all the time.(You know who you are..LOL) It would be Ok if they were being helpful instead of coming across as critical. Dang Oh Heck Fire!, enough about it. Come on lets play and have some fun. Take care all

Sure it's going to slow down. I was fired up and eager to make some headway with contributing some coding in the current 2.4 beta but noone could be bothered to share the code. A few weeks go by.. enthusiasm fades and all you can do is walk away.
